about

Mettle Park
Solely operated by me, Cy (alias; cywonder)
I started Mettle Park when I was 13, now 23.
I’m self taught, with a sewing machine I found in my grandma’s closet.

Mettle Park is a vulnerable diary written in whatever mediums that feel right to express my human experience.
A craft grown on the foundation of love, intention, belief and true authenticity with a honed attention to the negative space.
A careful nurturing by undivided passion, an angled perspective and driven by an uncommon sense.
The red button challenges barriers with no regard and creates openings in pursuit of freedom, creativity and self-expression in its fullest purity.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Mettle Park. A NEW COLOR, such as life - undefinable, hardly describable, yet uncomfortably true and universally familiar.
It can also be understood as YOU.
It was never about the button, it’s of the between.

My start

I was young, I hated clothes. The way they fit, felt and how boring it all was. It all seemed stupid to me. When I found my grandma’s sewing machine I immediately did everything I could to learn and teach it to myself. I was terribly horrible. I couldn’t even get the first stitch to stay without breaking a needle for about 2 weeks. After I got it down, I altered everything I had til it was to my liking. Friends and family started coming to me for their alterations. I started experimenting and making my own pieces that fell to the extremes of the word “unconventional” but they meant everything to me. It felt like therapy. A release of feelings felt deeply. Through highschool I kept creating - my peers enjoyed it, and I was selling my pieces to everyone there. I kept at it. I kept at it. I went to college. First semester in, I asked my parents for a gap year. To no fault, they had questions and reasonable doubt. I had undeniable belief. They agreed to it on strict terms. I never went back. I did ~30 unique pieces a month for years straight. It was the worst. It was the best. A runway here, a runway there. A full journey under another project while continuing on. This, that and everything happened.
I’m here now.

I always had a thing for everything creative since I was a kid, that machine I found gave me a tool to drive it.
I was delusional, until I wasn’t.
I failed a numerous amount, but I didn’t let it stop me.
I was never lost.
There was no other path for me, there was only plan A and I threw all my pennies into it.
A wish to push the button and it’s perspective as hard as I possibly can in the hopes to watch it flower.
In the hopes to inspire others to do the same for their own endeavor.

To say the absolute least, it wasn’t easy.
But, I wouldn’t change a thing even if I could.

The red button could’ve been anything else.
Anything that drew my attention to the point of hyper analysis.
To the point of revelation and devotion.
To the point of dancing in love.
And love is not all flowers. It’s a fight, and constantly that.

So, fight and feel free. I’ll be sure to break my back.

If you love it, let it kill you.

This is Mettle Park.

Thank you for everything,
None of this is possible without you.
Walk with love
